The Top 3 are from Ring?
You may have noticed that 3 are from the same company – Ring! Albeit, all Ring’s video doorbells are different models yet it speaks volumes about the company in the wireless video doorbell market.
The best video doorbells don’t only let you see who’s knocking at the door, they allow you to see someone coming based on your zone setting. You don’t only see who’s approaching or knocking at your door, you can also talk to them from anywhere in the world with the two way audio and HD visual feature.
Using your smart phone from any remote location you be able to carry on a two way conversation and a one way visual, as you can see them but they can’t see you. They won’t even know where you are unless you tell them. So if you’re too busy to open the door or maybe out of town, you can still answer your door from your phone.
Video doorbells integrated automation also sports some nice safety features too. Not only will you be notified when someone knocks on your door, you can set your notifications to alert you when someone enters the predesignated motion detection zone.
So if a “porch pirate” comes near your door, you can use your smart phone to scare them off, and even save the video to hand over to the authorities to further investigate.
Additionally, you can integrate your video doorbell into the app and control your motion detection smart lights too.

Which One is Best for you?
In the study of the Top 3 Best Video Doorbells Wireless, the top 3 are Ring models. Personally, I started with the Ring Video Doorbell – original, then later upgraded to the Ring Video Doorbell 2 with HD. Although I am very satisfied with my Ring 2, I have not had the desire to go beyond to the Pro because as I tested it, I felt that the Video Doorbell 2 was better in my opinion.
I have remained loyal to the Video Doorbell 2 mainly because I got really good at operating it, I had no issues, and it integrated fully into full home automation products. It is just really smooth to operate and so easy to install myself. I have the zones specifically set to the edge of my yard, which is within viewing distance. I am notified when someone steps on to my property before they get to the door. This allows me to make some decisions prior to someone getting to my door.
What about Nest Hello Smart Wifi Video Doorbell?
There are some who feel that Nest Hello Smart Wifi Video Doorbell is a great contender for the upper top 3, and it is a great product. It has great video quality, facial recognition and can even announce whose at the door. Being owned by Google, you can also view a live feed from the Nest Hello on Chromecast and it works well with Alexa.
One drawback is that Nest Hello has to be hardwired, so you’ll have to install it where there’s an existing doorbell, or run new wiring. For me, and I have surveyed others with the same problem that I had with a wired product, I would have to have an electrician install wiring to have a wired product like Nest Hello. That would be a disaster and added cost.
This would make my price of the project soar. With Ring giving me the option to make it wired or wireless, it was the perfect decision for me and others alike. You will also find that in order to participate in most of Nest Hello’s added features, you’ll need to at least subscribe to “Nest Aware.” Nest Aware will cost you $5.00, $10.00 or $30.00 a month depending on the package you choose.
Ring Video Doorbell 2 was the Answer for Me
After careful thought and investigation into what I would be spending ($169.00) in comparison to what I would get from other products, I found Ring was the answer for me. Plus, I like the success story surrounding Ring’s fame.
If you’re like me and don’t already have hard wires running to your doorbell, I recommend the Ring Video Doorbell 2. I wasn’t willing to spend an extra $500.00 for an electrician to run wires through my walls, seal and repaint. Not for a doorbell anyways. Thankfully, Ring has that option.
It can be hardwired, or operated with rechargeable batteries. You do need to recharge the batteries every few months. Ring 2 sports a high quality 1080 feed along with customization for motion zones to better suit your viewing and notification needs.
Once I got and used my Ring Video Doorbell 2, I thought that was it. I soon learned that there was more. It was just the beginning. With Ring’s Smart Home Integration, I have added more home automation products, ie: smart locks, smart thermo, window and door sensors, motion detection (inside and out). I add more and more as they come out.
